Tesco vouchers for ferry tickets

Does anyone have experience of using the Irish Ferries or Stena Line vouchers from Tesco? I want to use mine to pay for a ticket for a return ticket for a friend to come to Ireland from Liverpool with her car and kids. Does anyone have any experience of what the restrictions are on the vouchers? Thanks.
