    Hi.

What Irish soccer player (past + present) has scored the most club goals (in all competitions)?

Would it be John Aldridge? His 363 goals here are for league only though.

    I'd say so

Robbie Keane has 207 and I couldn't think of anyone else! Hard to believe he didn't get one goal for Inter!

Johnny Giles played in the states for a year!

Keane scored 3 goals for Inter. 1 in the cup, 1 in the league cup and 1 in europe. Didn't score in the league.

He was unfortunate Tardelli came in and decided he wasn't good enough for Milan. He has said a few times he regretted that decision and now feels Keane should of been given a chance.

O sorry I must have just been looking at the league stats! :o

Depends where you're drawing the line in terms of level?

I'd hazard a guess that no one will beat Aldrige's overall total though. I'd guess second might be Owen Coyle who had around 250 league goals? I remember he had one season at Airdrie where he had some crazy stat like 20 goals in his first 6 games or something? Casarino also scored a lot in the lower English Leagues and when he went to France.

BTW, I was way off on the Coyle stat. He 'only' scored 17 goals in his first 7 games. Pathetic!

Thing is that these two scored a lot of goals in weaker leagues. As you said it depends on where you are drawing the line.

Irish "soccer" players who have scored more goals than Robbie "Boyhood Dream" Keane, broaden your football knowledge.

No need to be so defensive Gavin. He being the current top scorer for the national team EVER was the first person that came to mind.

John Aldridge and then Jason Byrne id imagine. Realistically Jason Byrne, as from what I've read about his time with Ireland, Aldridge probably wouldn't consider Irish to be his first nationality.

As far as I know Byrne does. The figure usually quoted for Byrne only includes his league goals.

He must have picked up an injury after that,it shows he only scored 3 more league goals during the rest of that season :)

David Connolly must be at least in the top 5 Irish club goal scorers

At last years Euro's in the Red Cow Aldridge was doing an appearence for one of the games.

when it came to the crowd asking questions he was asked ''If Ireland were to play England in a final, who would you support??''

Lets just say his reaction would probably prove your statement wrong :pac:

According to wiki, Cascarino scored 248 club goals.

    David Kelly scored 194.

So it's Aldridge by a distance then, as suspected?

Vinny Arkins has one more! 249 (again according to wiki). Don't think that includes cup goals though. I remember him being top scorer in that league nearly every year at one stage.

This list credits Aldridge with 476 club goals:

    Nobody else comes close.
