Reading the thread on s04e06 there & lots of mentions of the novel 'Rise of the Governor'

Where chronologically do these novels fit in?
I've read some of the comics (well the first two compendiums - think I'd get frustrated at reading the rest in as they come out).

What's the order of the novels?

I've just sourced them, and it looks like to me it is:

    1. The Rise of the Governor
    2. The Road to Woodbury
    3. The Fall of the Governor

You should read the comics, there are around 115 episodes so far and provide a different perspective and different story in some respects too, and is obviously more advanced story wise.

Edit: It looks like books 2 and 3 were audio books that I got. I'll look around later probably for text versions.

The 1st book - Rise of the Governor is brilliant. Made me enjoy Season 3 of the TV series even more once I knew about Penny's backstory.

The 2nd book - Road to Woodbury, I found very boring, I find Lilly a crpa character.

Gonna get the 3rd book - Fall of the Governor ASAP! Didn't realise it was out since October!

I've read the comics up as far as 96 (which is as far as compendium two went I believe)

Interesting to hear your thoughts on Road to Woodbury as I'm half-thinking of skipping it and going straight to Fall of the Governor. Does the Guv appear much in it at all?

Will spoiler just in case in regards to Road to Woodbury
It's about Lilly and a group of survivors. Very boring story as Lilly is very unlikable. She finally gets to Woodbury and The Governor has recently taken over (continued from Rise of the Governor). It picks up here as you get to know what Woodbury was like when the Gov is running things (very interesting in how it sounds before him in Rise of the Gov). Gove becomes a big part of it then and Lilly becomes a secondary character. Still not a great read but if you do get it, you can skip to the middle part where the Gov comes into it. However, the 3rd book features Lilly as well so it might be worth just sticking to it.

The book and comics story are canon where the tv series has it's own story. Lilly has a small but important role in the comics so I'd be interested to read her parts in the last 2 novels.

    Novel chat.
I thought that while the storyline was decent overall (peaks and troughs) the writing was mostly awful though, with far too many descriptive terms used.

Have any more books been written or any more planned in the same universe? If some stuff was done around the time the outbreak started that would be especially welcome imo.
