Coal Bunker Solution

Alright lads, I got a coal bunker a few days ago and I was trying to think of a way to get the coal out nice and easy and not so messy.

The one I got is this one..

Now I can`t think of a way to get the coal out in some what of a controlled manner, I was thinking of some sort of funnel, so that it goes into the bucket fairly handy, but then stopping the flow of it is the next problem..I`ve raised the bunker up to about waist height, but still the coal comes out a little to fast in order to get it all into the bucket.

Has anyone came up with some solution for these bunkers?

:-) When the bunker is full you just keep sweeping up the stuff that falls out, and when its nearly empty you scrape your knuckles trying to reach the coal at the back, between whiles rooting in at the top to persuade the last bit to fall so you can shovel it! Sorry I can't be any more helpful - just did a sweep a couple of days ago, sorting out the small pebbles from a nearby area as I did so.

It works good when it's not so full, it kind of defeats the purpose if you can't fill it up without the coal going all over the gaff. .. I don't know.

    I have one.
I made a little wooden tray that sits on the ground in front of the opened door.
Sides on the tray are about 5 inches high. Coal that runs out the door sits on the tray and goes no further.

I made it from scraps of wood as a trial and although a little rough that was maybe five years ago. Still there.

Similar box 3 sided as in top+2 sides 6" deep held in place by screws through plastic front also works and prevents avalanche, fitted on the inside.
