I've started a couple of threads in the last few days after myself and my husband found some money he was given as a child that he'd forgotten about.

I'm new to boards and I'm not quite sure what I'm allowed to do or not but I reckon it'd be better if I stick to one thread

I've found out quite a bit already but would love some more information and history on the notes. I've been on irishpapermoney and found out a little about the first one, a 1943 bank of ireland, belfast pound note. Apparently it was only considered legal tender during WW2. I'd really appreciate a more detailed explanation if anyone would be willing to offer one<<hopeful emoticon>>

The second one is a 100,000 Mark note from 1923. It's worth practically nothing but I'd be really interested in the back story. I think they were mass printed during an economical crises and apparently a loaf of bread at the time would have cost about 700,000 Marks. That's all I know.

The third is a 1962, Lady Lavery £20. I don't need the history or value but the grade. I'm only two days into becoming a note expert (:D) so I have no idea how to grade notes but from the limited information I could find the tears, corner missing and cellotape mean it's 'good'. Is that right?

Also the one pound Lady Lavery. To me it looks quite good with only a small tear and creases but it's still 'crisp' (get me being all experty!) I think that means 'fine'. Would that be right?

Lastly the cambodian (?) one. Any idea on date of issue.

Any help at all greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks a mill.

I've found out about the mark. Very interesting stuff! Apparently by the end of 1923 US$1 = billions of mark

Had a nice little, 2 minute long, celebration/minor heart attack when I first discovered the note and decided to go straight to a currency converter to find out the exchange rate on 100,000 marks before researching the actual note!

I'm sure I experienced some sort of momentary disrhythmia when €50,000 popped up! I cannot explain and am somewhat disturbed by my brain's instant outburst of song "I feel pretty, oh so pretty" (I'm not pretty!)

Nor can I explain why, when I did my research and discovered we were still broke, my brain decided to scold me in the style of my childhood friend's mother... "That'll learn ye to jump to conclusions now won't it"!!!

Still, it's a great piece of history to pass down the generations and now I have the full story to go with it. Happy days.

Well I finally got around to scanning the coins. No digital camera.

I know what they all are but I have no idea where to begin with trying to grade them. 1-70??? or something but to me it's banjaxed, alright like, sound, deadly, or the dogs liathróidí. Apparently that grading system is frowned upon :D

Anyone with a more experience mind having a go at grading. I know they're only scans so not great but a rough idea would be great and much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

(Will do them one at a time so the correct front and back are together in the one post)
