    hey folks,

Bought a 2nd hand vehicle last week and was waiting on change of ownership, logbook actually arrived today. on my way home ofc I got stopped at a checkpoint and given a ticket (no moaning from me I was tax-less on the road:cool:).. anyway now I've just paid the tax online and have to wait for the disc.

Question is... Can i drive on the road without a disc on display and just have the receipt from the motortax online?

Yeah you've paid tax, if it was me I would, I once got stopped with no tax on display but had paid 2 days previous, I had receipt to prove but still had to produce in Garda station.

With the receipt for payment, you're probably fine while driving. Be careful when parking though. Traffic wardens will ticket you and won't see or care about any receipt.

Strictly speaking legally no, it's an offence to drive or park a vehicle on a public road without displaying a motor tax disc. As others have said, a Garda would often apply discretion and just demand you produce the actual disc within 10 days, but you're unlikely to get any leeway with a Traffic Warden.
