    Hi all,

    Looking at a Seiko Diver:

Are these two watches the same, just with different straps? And if I was to get the cheaper one with another strap, would it be the same watch?

    €211

    €158

    With this strap:

    €30

Well I have the 007, and tend to wear it on a NATO, and it is great, but I tend to use it as a tool watch, put it on at the weekends if I'm doing something outdoors. I would not usually wear it if I was going out in the evening, or ever with a suit.
In your first post, I don't think there is any real difference between the 2 watches -all anyone seems to care about is whether it was made in Korea or Japan, and they are both Japanese models.
Deciding between the Seiko and the Citizen? They are very different watches, if you want a tool watch, get the 007, if you want a watch that you can wear with a suit as well as casually, then I'd say go with the Citizen.

Thanks Zagato, pushed the button the Citizen there! :)

I'm a bit of a Seiko fan, but I like the Citizen quite a lot.

Just so you're aware, I bought the 007 through eBay on a metal strap for in and around €110 delivered. If you're patient and look outside of Europe you should find one at a great price.

There's the K version for a good bit less on the website I linked, is that it?

Ooh silly me it was the 009 I bought BUT I was watching both at the time and both went in and around the same price. Depending on where you buy the watch from, the price can vary dramatically. I also bought mine from a respected Asian seller and it was sent minus a box. If you're not fussed about a box and can wait a little it's the way to go.

The Citizen I'm getting comes with a box and should be here in two days time (three days total). You can get the box for the Seiko for €4 extra on that site.

Well good to hear you've plumped for the Citizen but should you plump for a Seiko in the near future, hunt around. I'd hate to see you pay €200+ for a watch that can be had for roughly half of that.

Watch arrived today! Love how it looks, but...

    It won't run?

I've just taken it out of the box and can't seem to get it started, any ideas? Doesn't appear to be any plastic tabs to be pulled out to allow the battery to run etc. Can't seem to adjust time or anything either.

Any ideas? Give it a full charge?

I wouldn't expect there to be tab you pull out, as it won't have the normal type of battery.

Were there no instructions included with it? I'd leave it on the window sill for a few hours tomorrow and see if that gets it going. Does it have a screw down crown? You may need to unscrew the crown before you can pull it out to adjust the time.

There were instructions, but it assumes the watch is already running.

I'll leave it on the window for a while tomorrow.

Not a screw down crown, the crown pulls out cleanly to two more positions.

    Getting worried... :(

    Hopefully it'll be grand.

Give it a full charge by leaving it in the window sill/natural light for a while and it should be fine. If memory serves (and it probably doesn't) I think it needs about 8hrs of this to build up a 6 month reserve

    best of luck

I just left it under a high power lamp for about 20 minutes, it's sorted it! Time and date set now! :D

    Love this watch!
