First time new PC build - need help!

Hi All,
I am being pestered by my two boys to get a decent computer so they can play minecraft and other latest releases, my current PC is a Dell Dimension 9200. I could use some parts from this maybe, like the DVD drive.
Look to be honest if I can go all new and dump this old warhorse and keep the budget under my limit I will.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Oh one more thing, do I need to get a new Windows OS or will the XP on this machine work?

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video Internet] (Minecraft, Halo, COD)

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Not sure, currently have XP on a Dell dimension 9200

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Hard drive as a back-up /DVD Drive/ Model = Dell Dimension 9200

5. Do you need a monitor? No...Have a 26" LCD TV with VGA connection

5a. If yes, what size do you need. N/A

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1024x768

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? gaming mouse

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Not sure, never tried it!!

8. How can you pay? Credit Card/Laser

9. When are you purchasing? After Christmas

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Drogheda

This would do nicely and can easily be upgraded down the line if you need/want more power.

If you want to save some money at the cost of some hassle you can buy a Windows 7/8 oem activation key on Amazon for about €40. You would have to download the windows trial and install it from a usb memory stick and activate it with the key but you would save about €40.

Thanks for this Bloodbath, I forgot to mention I have recently upgraded a TV, so I now have a 26" LCD TV which I want to uses as the monitor, would this graphics card be ok? Also with all my routing around for parts and set ups I found this ready built gaming PC on Dabs:-

Anyway what do you think about this AMD set-up compared to the Intel i3? and should go for a higher rated PSU?

It's ok but only ok. The build above is a lot better and will have better upgrade options. You can get hwvs to build it for €20 but I wouldn't as it has to be shipped from Germany in that state and it's a lot more likely to have issues.

The psu is fine. Even if you upgraded to an i5 or i7 down the line you still have plenty of power for even a high end card. You would have to use an adaptor to add an extra 8 pin graphics connector but it would be fine.

If you want some extra overhead grab a 500w corsair cx500 on Amazon.
