€1,000 PC help request! Also, does HDSV take part in Nvidia Holiday Bundle?

    Hey guys,

Planning on building my first PC so I'm pretty nervous and appreciate any help you can give!

Also, I'm curious if you guys know if HDVS is involved with the Nvidia Holiday Bundle? I'm curious as I plan to get a GTX 770 from Scan if not, but I'd rather just get it all in one place to be honest.

    1. What is your budget?
I'm planning for €1,000 for the PC itself, and maybe a few more hundred for OS/screens etc.

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Mostly for gaming, but I'd use it for general work and probably some photoshop/gimp

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yeah, but not counting that in the PC budget. Gonna get Windows 8, as I hear it's better for gaming. Do you agree?

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Nope, only have laptops at the moment. The last time I had a PC it was over 15 years ago

    5. Do you need a monitor?
Yes, planning on getting two hopefully, but again outside the 1000. I think I'd like to get one "good" one, while the other can be just decent enough.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. I'd guess I'd like 24" ones

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] [Yes/No]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Yeah, probably get some stuff from Razer, not sure yet though

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No, I'm not the most computer literate of people, so I think OCing is beyond me for now

    8. How can you pay? Guess Visa, or Bank Transfer

    9. When are you purchasing? Hopefully this week

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? I think I should be fine. I might even just get HDVS to just build it for the 20

I've basically thrown together the pieces, and haven't included the Graphics Card, as I might be getting it from Scan.

    Intel Core i5-4670K Box, LGA1150|€204.92

    Corsair Gaming Series GS600 2013 Edition 600W|€72.39

The Motherboard I picked is sold out, so I'll need to pick a different one. Am I forgetting anything?

Looks like you need to add a graphics card. Choosing that depends on how you want to run your games. 1080p on one monitor is easy, 1440p or multiple monitors will take more muscle. Also some guys want 120 Hz and very high framerates, that also takes more power.

Edit: just saw you mention the gtx 770. That would run pretty much anything at 1080p on one monitor at highest settings.

Yeah, sorry! I didn't include the graphics card in the list cause I'll probably get it from Scan to get the three games, unless HDSV (or whatever) does it too.

Very similar build to my potential one. Motherboard and case are different obviously, but seems to be along the same lines as mine.

Ah that's great, it makes me think I may have done it properly so! Probably changing to this Mobo cause it's in stock MSI Z87-G43, ATX, Sockel 1150

Is there anything particularly wrong I'm doing?

Do you know anything about Hardwareversand and Nvidia Holiday Bundle by chance?

Will I need to get an extra cooler?

Oh and do the parts come with the thermal gel stuff for the CPU or do you need to buy that separately?

Do these promotions not come in the form of scratchcard type things in the GPU box that are redeemed on the relevant website? That's how I claimed the free games that came with the Never Settle Bundle from AMD a couple of months ago anyhoo.

Haha, thought I may have been doing that wrong :-P

I believe it does come in the box, but it says only at participating retailers, and it only mentions the US ones. I know Scan does it, cause they mention it on their site, but can't find it mentioned on HWVD

Oh, and dumb question, if I buy and OS and Office from HWVD, will it be a German version? As in it will it either be in English or be easily altered to English in settings?

It will be German but download an English version yourself and install it with that. You just need the key to activate it from the german copy

That's a h87 board, you will need a z87 board to overclock that 4670k. Since you don't want to overclock though change the processor to either an i5 4570 or a xeon e3 1230v3. I'd go with the xeon myself.

I would change that case as well. For a little more you could get something far better like one of the Nanoxia line up.

There's other savings to be had there. You can get identical sped g-skill ram for €10 less. You could get a 500w psu and save about €20. It's more than enough for that system even with overclocking. There's another card reader there for €5 less.

    I'd also opt for a 280x over the 770 but it's a close call.

Thanks guys, you've been great help!

Brian, as I ended up buying parts from some other sites too, I just got the OS from Amazon, to be sure it's in English.

Bloodbath, I actually upgraded the mobo to a z87 board, believe the gaming one MSI z87-G45 or something like that, and got an aftermarket fan to be sure, as I'm thinking I might play around with OC'ing a little actually. And thanks again, I got a 500W too!

Pretty excited for everything to arrive now! I was a little shocked that the Hardwareversand order'll come in THREE packages and weigh a little over 20kg. I guess it's not that surprising though.
