Tax Back on College Fees

    Last year I ran into difficulties paying my college fees, and to assist me they charged me extra for each month I was late. Anyway. I am now submitting a receipt for what I paid which wac 4,500 including 500 euro "late fee" - will they take this late fee into ac? The college have issued me with a receipt for 4000, saying relief is on tuition only, even though I was billed 4,500 and have an invoice to this effect. Any ideas?

    You can see the breakdown there on the revenue website.

    If you paid €4,000 in full time fees the first €2,250 is disallowed meaning you get relief on €1,750 at a rate of 20% providing you have enough tax paid you will get back €350.

    You will get nothing for the €500 penalty for late payment.

    I know about the disregarded amounts. Its actually only 1250 disregarded for me as I am part time. Thanks for the info re the late fee.:)
