So I decided I wanted to make a simple single-paged webserver to host my resume using my rPi w/ apache2+vsftpd+openssh

Having set the whole thing up and set up my router for it I found that I could access the apache2 server over the internal network but I couldn't get to it using my external IP

I can get to it via ssh on port 22 but FTP and HTTP are internal only, I have ports 80 and 21 set up exactly the same way I have 22 set up.

Any ideas as to whats going on here?

If port 80 is blocked. Use a free dns service to do port redirection for you.

e.g. you.no-ip.com would redirect to <your ip>/:8080

Also for hosting a single webpage, I would use a lighter http daemon. lighttpd or maybe even nginx. But that's only a suggestion. Your pi will have more free ram now.
