Moving an Eircom Pole

    Hi,

    I have just bought a site in Dublin City Centre and an eircom pole is "disturbing" the site.

    The eircom pole is actually outside the boundary of the site (on the footpath) but the wires cross over the middle of the site and once we get up to roof level they will be in the way. We could leave the pole there but the wires will be in the way.

    I have paid for the eircom survey €300 plus vat and I estimate they are going to quote me approximately €2,500 - €4,000 to move the pole.

    <snip>

    Any other ideas??

    You would probably get a better answer much quicker in the Construction & Planning Forum - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=876

    Hardly a consumer issue. Utilities have wayleaves over property you will need to pay to get it moved.

    I highly recommend you start getting proper advice as seem to be doing this DIY and have already added thousands to your budget.

    I have built a few houses around the city in the past three years but this is the first time this issue cropped up and I was wondering if there is any way to avoid the cost. A friend of a friend told me he built right up to the wires and made them move the wires for free as they were a safety hazard to his site, but I don't know how true this is.

    I am just trying to see if there's any alternative to handing over thousands of euro.

    this type of friends advice is against H&S safety legislation, so its against the law and so Boards.ie cant be having it.

    Respect the law
