    Hi,

Sorry if this was raised somewhere and I can't see it but hopefully someone will be able to help me. I was (eventually) able to upgrade my computer to windows 8.1 but since i did it the computer wont start properly. Everything works fine until I'm supposed to be able to login, the problem is the login screen never appears!

By turning the computer off at the switch i can eventually get the repair option and I can get into windows using the debug or safe mode but the problem never resolves itself (i.e. i have to go through the same process every time i turn the computer is turned off) . Admittedly the debug mode seems to work fine but I'm a bit nervous that there might be certain functionality that isn't working properly (in particular virus protection)

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? or failing that is the debug mode "safe" to use? Not too sure if the detail I've given is too sparse or not so if you need more let me know and I'll do my best to give you whatever information i can.

    Thanks
