Perfectil - Any Good?

My hair is in terrible condition since I got balayage done, slowly trying to undo the damage now :( I am losing clumps of hair when I wash or brush/dry my hair, thankfully I have very thick hair so it doesn't affect me too much! But the ends are quite coarse, despite my having cut my hair a month ago.

I also have quite dry skin, and nails that won't grow as they break and peel a lot. I was thinking of taking Perfectil, have read some mixed reviews here and on other sites. Does anyone have experience with them and would you recommend them? If not, could you recommend another vitamin that may help? Am also open to hearing about vitamins that can help with the above and fatigue :)

Since I started taking biotin (which is one of the ingredients in Perfectil afaik) my hair has grown a lot faster and so have my nails. Kinda annoying if you get bikini waxes :p But hey, proof it works! Multibionta has biotin in it and you can get it on its own in Holland and Barrett, pills are tiny too so easy to swallow!

I think Perfectil is a bit of a waste of money tbh. Very expensive. You can get Boots hair, skin and nails capsules which contain the same kinda things, for cheaper! And even a decent normal multivitamin would be quite similar.

The ends of your hair being coarse is just due the dye, and if you are using heat products. Vitamins won't do anything to help that! Needs a cut. I ruined my hair with bleach last year too. Got the ends cut, started taking vitamins, used good conditioners and oils to keep the ends in good condition, and stopped using the hair straighter. My hair is in much better condition now!

Great advice Lia Lia. Like the OP, my nails are weak, brittle and peeling and my hair is so fine, I can't really afford to be losing so much of it, despite getting it trimmed regularly it keeps on snapping, and doesn't grow AT ALL. :(

I put it down to having gel nails (once for about two weeks, over a year and a half ago) but that would not affect my nails still, so I'm guessing I'm just run down so will maybe try a multi vitamin first.

In regards to my hair, I've stopped dying it so much, last time I stripped bits of it was maybe feburary, stopped putting semis in it, wash it maybe 3 times a week, and have started to use a conditioner that has Moroccan aragan oil in it (its really cheap though, would that matter?) and then when I've towel dried it, I use a few drops aragan oil (again, very cheap), some leave in conditioner and some heat protecter before blow drying it or straightening it.

I haven't noticed an awful difference in regards to the condition of my hair, however when it's first styled after being washed it looks so shiny and healthy.

I was however skeptical of those products that promise to work, but I suppose there's no harm in trying it for a while :)

I've used Perfectil but wasn't convinced that it made any difference (I already take a multivitamin though). My nails were really dry and brittle, peeling and basically impossible to grow. What made a massive difference was drinking more water - overnight my nails became a lot stronger and now hardly ever break. I also notice that they get brittle again if I fall back to old habits.

So - I now have a glass or two of water with breakfast, then aim to drink a 500 ml bobble bottle full on my way to work. During the day I use a pint glass and try to have it at least 3 times. I'm not great at drinking water in the evenings.

My hair has also grown but I've really noticed it in my skin and nails. I thought I'd have terrible nails forever!

Also I use the Burt's Bees cuticle cream and a hand cream as my hands feel very dry. I have a good few old tubes but the Johnson & Johnson pink one is the best IMO.

    Hope this helps :-)

    Hi OP,

My stylist recently told me to stop using shampoo altogether, and just use conditioner to 'wash' my hair. I was apprehensive but it's been great! I use a sulphate-free conditioner and a bit more than you would if you were shampooing too. I shampoo it once a week. He also told me to stop brushing it (it gets very 'fluffy') but I have curly hair so can get away with that.

Re nails, I'm convinced oils are the way to go. I swear by coconut oil (I have for breakfast on rice cakes with honey) and also take UDO's oil. Great for your skin and my nails are strong and helathy.

I use a multi vitamin with iron and also have found that taking that silica tablet supplement has helped my hair and nails a lot. I also take kelp tablets

There are tablets called 'nuhair' that are fantastic for growing your hair

I used Perfectil for a few months and noticed amazing changes in my skin, hair and nails. The cost, however, was a problem and I've since been taking the Boots / Viridian / Solgar ones.

I have to say they're not as good, in that I'm not noticing the effects as much as Perfectil but they'll do for now 'til I can afford to go back to the more expensive brand.

I always had amazingly strong nails and in the last two years they have been really weak and my hair was rubbish. I was recommended to try sambucol from holland and barrett to try and boost my immune system (for completely different reasons) and after two weeks, my nails were back! I had spent a fortune on vitamins but it seems they weren't the problem? Bit mad really....

You can get 3 boxes of perfectil for £10 in Asda if you are in anyway close to the border... or else you could try ordering off their website :-) Great value.

My hair was really damaged about 2 years ago after years of bleaching, highlighting and extensions. My ends were really tatty and like you, I was loosing clumps in the shower. So I vowed to turn things around. I got a good cut and limited heat products to only "special occasions". I also invested in a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (best ones I've found are by a brand called Living Proof) you can buy them online or in Space NK in Harvey Nichols.

I also started soaking my hair in oils bought from an Asian shop one or two nights a week, at first I hated this but it was definitely the thing that made the biggest difference. You simply wait until the night before your hair needs a wash or on a day you don't mind greasy hair, soak it in oil from root to tip, massage your scalp, tie it up and go to sleep. In the morning do a double shampoo. Over time this really really works! I bought the oils for half nothing in an Asian halal shop on Clanbrassil St, you can use Coconut, Almond, Mustard, Jasmine, Amla...whichever you want, as long as it's natural.

2 years on and my hair is really thick and long and despite only getting it cut once or twice a year I haven't got any split ends.

Hi beauty101, did you dilute the oils or just use them as they came?

No they're base oils so no need to dilute!

Sorry to rebump an old thread, but a few people here said the price was too much but they are cheap at the moment in boots.
