Tractor In Disguise...VW Diesel 1.9TDi

    Evening everyone,

I was wondering if someone could shed some light as to what has my VW Polo 1.9TDi sounding like a tractor in the last number of weeks.

This is a recent clip which gives you an idea of the sheer noise, as well as this 'chirping' sound which seems like a squeaky belt? The car has only recently had the TB and water pump replaced. The 'chirping' noise is only there intermittently when the car is turning over, but is very noticable when taking off or moving a low revs in 1st or 2nd.

Many thanks for any feedback in advance,

    Cul.

Had something similar on a petrol Audi and it was the hydraulic tensioner on the timing belt.

Not sure if this is applicable to the diesel version
