    Hey there,

I'm currently receiving jobseekers allowance, and I've just noticed a weekend job which would be ideal for me, except that I'm confused about what with happen with my payment.

The job is two days a week, Saturday and Sunday. A friend of mine told me to definately go for it, because he said 'you can get x's and o's' which as far as I understood from him meant that I would get paid for the two days from the workplace, and for the other days from the state? Is this true or am I just confusing things?

I've had a look at this page here on citizens information,http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/irish_social_welfare_system/means_test_for_social_welfare_payments/work_and_jobseekers_allowance.html but am still a little confused, and was wondering if anyone had a similar situation and could lend some advice?

There would be means assessed agains you for each day you work. There is a €20.00 disregard for each day you work. So it's your gross - 20.00 and then the reaminder is multiplied by 60%, this gives you a daily earning figure, which they would multiply by however many days you work and then deduct this from you weekly figure.
