What do boardsies think about the legitimacy of this deal?

Almost seems to good to be through, but I will post it anyway for discussion...

Essentially what you are looking at here is....

an Ipad Air 16GB Wifi for £40 less than the RRP from ebay seller E Cell

It is free shipping to the UK only , but can be shipped to Ireland via the Parcel Motel service for a fee of €3.50.

    Space Grey / Black

    Silver / White Model

I discovered this on ebay's Super Weekend Sale page, which was advertised on TV.

They have over 1 million points in positive feedback, but this is mainly due to low value items.

There is a boards thread here about buyer's experiences from the same seller:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=76763527

If anyone is interested in buying one, I urge you to wait and see what the general consensus is on this thread.

Don't see why you think it's dodgy or too good to be true, it's only £10 dearer in most places and has been this price before in Zavvi.

The reason why it may be dodgy is that their customer service is meant to be poor if you do not receive your item, and people have had to resort to filing paypal claims to get a refund.

Was it this price on Zavvi for the new iPad Air, or an older model?

If you know of anyone else selling it for less than £399.99 atm could you post them on this thread?

    Thanks.

This is by no means dodgy, its advertised in the ad for eBay in England. Seems like a good deal if you're interesting in the Apple ecosystem.

There is no older iPad Air. It was this price at Zavvi Ebay, and is less than £10 more at Tesco Uk and John Lewis.

Thanks for the links, I knew there was no older iPad Air just wanted to make sure you weren't confusing it for an older model.

Looks like John Lewis and Tesco put the price back upto £399.99.

You have to use the voucher code for Tesco, and John Lewis will price match if you prefer them. Also you get Quidco with both I think.

3 amazon sellers are selling for slightly more @ £371.59 (about €444) with Free Super Saver Delivery:

    Link

All of which are fulfilled by amazon.

Each have 99% positive feedback, and imo would be less risky to buy from, going from user feedback for E Cell.

Unfortunately there are no iPad Air 16GB or 32GB WiFi only models in stock on Tesco's site,
but I did try the coupon with one of the cellular models and I can confirm it is still valid and applied the £30 discount.

It said this offer is valid on any tablet priced over £300.

ecell are dodgy as ****. I went through a fair rigmarole after ordering a Nexus One about 3 years ago. Ended up opening a paypal dispute and getting a refund. They played every trick in the book... fake tracking numbers, the lot.

Check their feedback... they have 98.5 or something... all the cheap crap they sell arrives, but the expensive stuff, which is outnumbered by the cheap crap 1000:1, always seems to fail.

I used that seller on eBay before I would rather stick a hot poker in my eye than go near them again

The way I look on stuff like this is that if its only a few euro more in a bricks and mortar shop (or an online seller that you have a positive past relationship with) then you're better off going with that - 430 is a lot to spend on a seller that you haven't bought from before and has mixed (at best) reviews.

Here's a little tip for checking e_cell's feedback on high value items.

This is an advanced search I did for items worth over £200, showing the most expensive first:

    Advanced Search

You can put the sellers name - "e_cell" and the title name of the auction into this Feedback Selector tool, and it will show you all the feedback for items under that name.

For instance if we put "macbook" into the search, here are the results:

    http://www.feedbackselector.com/feedsearch.php?seller=e_cell&itemName=macbook&pageNum=1

All positive feedback - note that the results in this case are spanned across 16 pages, so you need to click "Next Page" to see more results.

I've tried this with some higher value smart phones they sold and they all returned positive feedback so far.

This gives me a bit more confidence to buy from them.

just don't expect it to be new as in bought and resold box may still be sealed. likely bought through the US. Nor expect consumer laws to apply.

Haha! I'm waiting to hear back from a friend working in Apple first. ;)
If they can't get a discount for me I might take the plunge and let everyone know how I get on.

I ordered a phone off them after a month no show of the phone. I emailed and rang no answer so open a dispute with PayPal. Got my money back then the fecker open a dispute for non payment

Bought an Iphone 5c from them a couple of weeks ago for £389 on a Thursday and it arrived to my Parcel Motel Saturday morning. Phone was new and sealed. Maybe I was just lucky but I found absolutly no problems with their service or product.

Pc world are doing a slightly convoluted €30 rebate off the ipad air that I was eyeing up but havnet pulled the trigger on. Could be of use OP.

The offer from the ebay seller is now expired.

    All positive feedback so far:

Thats a fantastic deal, I wonder would it be a good idea for this thread to become a general iPad deals thread. It would need a mod to edit the original post frequently though.

That hotukdeals site is an absolute gem!

Nah, none of these prices are really bargain alerts, just slightly off RRP. This thread is more what you're looking for.
