    hi,

I'm posting this in all three of the proprietary forums to get your views.
    hope thats ok?

i want advice on the best console for my situation if you don;t mind, and be biased if you like, as i'll read them all and be grateful.
I've a preference for first person shooters and strategy games, but the wife is fairly easy going as to what games take her fancy. also, i want an all rounder if thats possible.
I would appreciate any advice, and if you'd like more specific info about anything, so as to advise, please ask away.
they've become fairly expensive, and i've not been looking into them for a while, so would like the pointers so as to maximise the value from the purchase, one only coming to the house if you get me?

    thanks

If its first person shooters you want I say PS4 or Xbone they'll both always get the next iteration of Call of Duty or whatever, if they are too expensive for you just get a PS3 or xb360, the same games will most likely be released on all 4 platforms for the foreseeable future.

That's not to say say the WiiU wont get first person shooters, but if that's what your primarily after your better off looking at the other platforms.

I agree with the above but the wii u will probably fare better on the strategy games front. Plus you'll get the likes of Mario, Zelda, Pikmin and Metroid that wont be on the other consoles. However, there just isn't the same library of first person shooters as there will likely be on the Playstation or xbox.
Personally, I've a wii u and Xbox 360 and the latter hasn't got much running recently with the wii u on daily.

Wii U will get shooter ports, but they'd be better on x1 or p4, and ea titles won't be on wii u at all, like battlefield.

Definitely better for strategy/wife on Wii U though.

Can't see how it's hands down at all at the moment. Certainly not many games for it at present. Wii U currently has much bigger library of games, and has already been said it has netflix. The big price difference between Wii U and ps4 would leave you enough money for dedicated blu ray player of that is a deal breaker.

Years time, you may well be right but for now? Nope.

I bought a PS3 for blu ray etc. After buying three discs (all studio ghibli dual packs) I gave up.

I'm old school, game quality beats quantity any day.

If Sony had released resistance 4 on the ps4 I would have been interested but KZ3 while nice, I had finished in a day.

I couldn't even conceive that Resistance would sell as a replacement disc-sleeve, let alone be a system-mover; your post has broadened my world.
