Anyone know about them? My dad was asking about it, he doesnt like Estates so this was unusual, but he does like Crossover-SUV things so hes approaching it from that angle I guess.

I think it looks quite sharp, my only issue is the little Irish model info out there didnt make it clear which engines or transmissions will be on offer of the 3; 163bhp 2.0 Diesel Turbo, 195bhp 2.0 BiTurbo diesel or 2.0 250bhp petrol turbo?

The BiTurbo Diesel is likely the best bet as its going to be a lot smoother than the single turbo and when comparing Auto trans version of the Single and BiTurbo models there is only a single digit percent economy hit for a 20% performance increase.

There's been problems with the bi-turbos on other models but I think they are beginning to sell them again. Would definitely he the pick in this country anyway, 5 year warranty too so that should help. There is a normal 4x4 insignia estate in a local garage for 38k but I'd be amazed if 34-35 didn't take it away. They are nice cars but a little small inside and don't drive as well as they should on the twisty bits. But with a jacked up one that should be expected.

There's also a newly launched Octavia 4x4 and also a superb 4x4. The badge doesn't mean much but the superb is an excellent motor for what it is. I would take Opels economy figures with a pinch of salt however - the 2 litre diesels are thirsty unless you really take it easy.

I like the insignia estate but i wouldn't opt for one of them over an All road or Forester.

I'd personally look at an outback over a forester, nicer car but they ruined the styling on recent models.

How much is the cheapest all road? I bet there is a decent chunk in the difference but it would be a nicer car.

    Would a Q3/5 suit Matt?

The Q5 came up as his suggestion too, issue with it is Reliability/Warranty index is poor for Audi's in general. He could prolly get a decked Insignia for the price of an entry level Q5. I always got the impression the Q5 is small inside.. is it?
Also, the SQ5 (313bhp BiTurbo 3.0TDI) looks like a lot of fun! :D

He definitely wont go Subaru as he hates how they look (especially the Forester, I had one too). I might have convinced him if they still looked like my gen (the last one, 2005era Outback) but my god the new Outback is a bloated looking mess.

No mention of it on the Latest Opel price list. Only 4x4 models outside of the OPC's are the SE Sports Tourer - only Estate and only SE spec. That's still using the 160ps engine rather than the newer, more effecient 163ps version.

No Bi-Turbo models either. The SIDI 250ps Turbo engine sounds quite interesting, but I'd say they'll never sell any of them. If there are any registered in Ireland, will probably be Opel Ireland demo's.

XC60 AWD? More SUV than Crossover, but only just.

D5 is still listed on the price list, but questions over whether it's still available or not. 181ps D4 Geartronic wouldn't be such a bad motor to have to settle for. About 10k cheaper than the equivalent XC70.

Very nice looking car. I cannot comment on the performance, however in terms of styling it has to be the nicest in its category.:)
