I'm thinking of getting my provisional C license. Is it the same procedure as the B license? and will i need to do 12 lessons?

I'v joined a voluntary organisation and I wantes to start driving for them.. They have ambulances like high roof transits, land rovers and lots of smallish trucks. I was wondering would I be even better off doing the C1 license?

Hopefully i'll be driving yokes like this

Are they not just a van really? If so then you can drive them on a B licence.I dont think there is a test for a C1 anyway.

Nope, they're a C1. And yes there is a C1 test but personally I'd go for the full C as it'll cost near enough the same.

No, a C covers any truck over 3.5 ton but a C1 covers only up to 7.5 ton, no more.Seeing as you are intending to do charity work, you dont need to do the CPC c**p malarkey.

Seems silly to me to be basically driving a van, but its classed as a c1.Just the same thing with a minibus- d1 allbet with a few more seats...:P

    Howya op,

Just had a look at the pics of the ambos they seem to be just transit types so I don't think you would even need a C1 licence,Now the ambulance in use by the likes of the DFB/HSE etc are over 3500kgs due to them having a tail lift along with other equipment in the saloon.
I have yet to see one of the vols with the newer type vehicles as they cost 200k and over,If you decide to go for the licence just do the C licence it could come in handy work wise.;)

I might just go for the license anyway. You'd never know when you'd use it..
