Hey folks, I've been tasked by my Mum to find a tablet for Dad for Christmas. Thing is, I don't have a clue about tablets.

    The budget is €350 or there about's. There are only two conditions;

    1. That its large as the poor fella isn't getting any younger.

    and

    2. He has to be able to watch a few streams/netflix.

Apart from that, it'll be used for fluting around the internet and emails. Though now i think of it a good browzing experience is a must also.

    Thanks,

I'll second that vote for the Nexus 10.

I would use mine a lot for Netflix and Youtube. The front facing speakers are really quite good when compared with many other tablets of the same size and price.

Screen quality is superb, and overall it is fast and responsive.

It's my father's 60th coming up and my mother wanted to get him a tablet, she was going for a nexus 7 but I told her it well be too small for him.
I ordered a nexus 10 for him and I am playing with it the last few days, you know making sure it works....
It is great, fast and smooth. I got a hdmi cable for it for about a tenner so he can watch his streams/Netflix on the telly.

Thanks for the advice, the Nexus 10 seems to be the one to go for.

Whats the story with ordering one?

You can go through a VPN, set up a UK account and order it from the Google Play Store....

I went to Amazon.co.uk and ordered it from a seller there and got it delivered to Parcel Motel.

TF300 is a decent tablet with the bonus of a keyboard (if required)

Should pick it up for about 350 or so these days

Alright folks, I took yere advice advice and jumped for a Nexus 10.

I think ye were spot on. I've been "testing" it for a few days and damn it smoooooth.

Anywho I have a question. What type of cable do I need to connect the tablet to a TV?

Oh and I ye would be so kind as to recommend a sleeve/case for the Nexus 10 I'd really appreciate it.

To connect to a TV you just need a normal HDMI cable and a converter from Micro-HDMI to HDMI

Actually..just looked on Ebay and you can get a complete cable.. micro hdmi to hdmi. Local too..

I have a generic neoprene sleeve I found discounted in TKMax for €4.00 which keeps it protected if I take it to work.
