Hi Guys- I'm new here and don't know where this post should go- I was wondering if anyone can answer this-

    1. Corsa car van bought last month no doe - we put it through and it passed now the cvrt are saying that it has to go through the test again in May- isn't this supposed to be a cert for 12 months?

    2. How do we tax the car van privately as we won't be using it for business purposes just for hauling the dogs around??

    Many thanks

    Bill

If you go into your local motor tax office with the 'log book' and inform them the Corsa is now to be used as a private vehicle they will take the log book off you and issue you with a new one in a couple of weeks then you can Nct the car as you would a normal 5 seater (55 euro)...

The private tax on a corsa should be affordable enough alternatively you could tax it as a commercial and use your pps number if asked for a vat number at the motor tax office. The tax will be cheaper but you will incur doe costs (100 euro +) each year.

The latter may be an issue if you live somewhere where you will meet checkpoints regularly but the majority of cops are turning a blind eye to commercially taxed vehicles that are privately insured.

Personally if it is just for bringing the dogs to parks or nature trails choose option two the doe is easier to pass
