What to do? I was sold a fake SD card.

About three weeks ago I ordered a 32GB SD card from a Hong Kong seller on eBay. The card was advertised as just being generic and non branded. I received it yesterday and what I received was an 8GB SD card, modified to show up as 32GB. It was also branded as Kingston, which it obviously wasn't. I messaged the seller demanding a refund and got a reply quickly after saying he had refunded me and saying "This isn't how I had hoped it would turn out. Please leave positive feedback". Which I obviously won't be doing.

So I've a few questions. PayPal says the money has been refunded to my card yesterday, my bank says they know nothing, is that normal, how long should it take? Even though the money has been refunded can the seller try to claim it back? I just want to make sure before I go any further with it. How should I proceed then, do I contact Kingston and let them know, contact eBay and let them know that they are selling fakes? Obviously I'll be leaving bad feedback.

How much did you pay? €15? Not worth the hassle of doing anything. eBay is full of fake junk. Chalk it down to experience.

Around €12. I know eBay is full of fake junk but there is a big difference between selling fake junk and actually scamming people. I've gotten things on eBay that didn't work, got refunded and there was no problem but this guy has sold over 400 of these and is clearly scamming people.

I'm pretty much decided that I am going to follow this up, people ignoring it is why it still goes on. I just wanted to know if anyone knew what was up with the refund not going into my bank and if the seller could try to take the payment again. And obviously how other people would deal with it.

The refund in not instant , - it normally takes 3-5 working days .

You may see it as been completed in paypal , but this transaction will not show up in your bank a/c for at least 3-5 working days .

If you paid from Paypal funds , then the refund will return to Paypal , but if you paid from card funds , then the refund will return to your card a/c .

If you are following up on the item you bought , you may need to provide certification that the SD card is not an original .

To do this , you need to send it to the original branded owner and ask them for certification of its authenticity .

It could be a faulty card rather than a replica .

It's definitely a replica, it was a 8GB card modified to make the computer think it is 32GB. It's definitely not faulty. The seller has basically acknowledged that its fake. Thanks for the info.
