    Our long lost county :D

C'mon Ryanair, y'know you want to do it.

Dirt cheap. Pity it's not on the main land, may be expensive enough to move off the island

I looked at their fleet and all they have are the 737's that Ryanair have the -8 and its baby brother the -7. For that journey I am assuming the longer range 737-7 is being used. Its 136 economy seats so its basically a Ryanair seat with maybe a 32" rather than a 30" pitch.

Sure Ryanair fly to Chania which is only 128 miles shorter than to St Johns..
just etops the thingimajik, pay your staff pittance, bribe canadian officials and there you are
    Dub-Chq 1921mi
    Dub-Yyt 2049mi
The longest Ryanair flight is Bll-Tfs 2298mi

If we were to take that Ryanair were willing to fly 2298miles from Dublin..y'know if they could

ETOPS the problem. It ain't gonna happen

"To operate across the Atlantic in a B737 the airline needs to prove they can operate under ETOPS restrictions. Westjet already do this to the Carribean, Ryanair do not operate ETOPS flights."

From a poster in aviation forum

Best of luck to Westjet in this, makes for an interesting holiday destination that probably wouldn't even come in for consideration except for a convenient well priced flight like this.

As well Westjet would be a step above Ryanair. Skytrax rate Westjet as a 3 star airline, just like Aer Lingus, Easyjet and a tonne of other mainstream carriers

The most Irish place outside Ireland supposedly. Had their own dialect of Irish up to a couple of decades ago and they still have funny Irish accents. Would definitely like to go there sometime. good to see they have direct links with the mainland again. hope it lasts

I really want to go there. My brother moved to Toronto 10 years ago, and visited St Johns only this summer. It would be like meeting him half way.

Westjet as an Airline is good seatback TV power sockets there is no way to compare them to Ryanair and friendly staff would be worth doing it.... if you wanted to go to new foundland the same flight also then continues on to Toronto

The plane would be able to make the journey but a Ryanair 189 seater cannot as the additional passengers it carries cuts the fuel load it can carry right down because of its MTOW. Carrying only a 30 minute fuel reserve cross Atlantic will not cut ice with any aviation authority.

Plenty of posters in AH would say different.

I'm an engineer and when people say it can't be done I ask why? It's often because they think you can't because it's the way things are.
Trust me if MOL wanted to fly there and thought it would be profitable they'd find away of doing it

The tiny island of Montserrat in the Carribean might dispute that, most of the residents there have surnames like Murphy and O'Donnell and they're immensely proud of their Irish heritage. The entry stamp you get on your passport is a green shamrock and I can confirm that they have one hell of a hooley on St.Patricks Day every year.

    Good times.
