Perez Future??

He was outperformed pretty handily by Button.

That's not to say he is a bad driver but McLaren are looking for another 'star' type driver and presumably they've seen enough this year to know it's not Perez. He was always an emergency choice last year; they didn't really expect Hamilton to leave.

This has already been discussed in the GENERAL thread. Take a look, some good points in there.

I think it's poor form though the way they have kept him hanging and he has lost alot of opportunity as a result.
They have quite possibly ruined his career. It's always a mistake to jump into a top team too early imo.

It's kind of sad how two drivers who did so well at Sauber in 2012 are more than likely left without a drive for next year. I doubt Kobayashi will feature next year either.

Yes, it is unfair, his career has a good chance of being ruined alright. He may not get a seat next year and that is him out of F1. It is so hard to get into F1 once, let alone get back into it if you have been dropped.

Kovaleinin is a prime example. Looked good. Jumped into top seat. Didn't shine so much then was on a downward curve after. It's worse now given the way driver market is.

I reckon he might be heading back to Sauber.

Not sure how things were left when he moved to McLaren. There is a flood of drivers fighting for seats and only a small number of seats left. The market is in favour of the teams at the moment.

You're right, but McLaren didn't exactly excel themselves this year in giving him a decent car to work with.

He wasn't ready for McLaren / McLaren had a dog of a car this year. That was it.

I think its good that he's gone to Force India. They seem like a steady team, and that will hopefully help him develop and he could do some good things there. FI are the kind of team that could suddenly just get it right, not quiet to the level of a top team, but certainly bubbling under the top 3.
