Surface Vs Surface 2

Now that the surface is heavily discounted and selling at a reasonable €329 I'm wondering how do people think it measures up to the Surface 2 considering price?
I'm looking to buy one mainly for word processing and browsing and am not sure if the upgraded version is necessary or not?

Has anyone used both and noticed any problems in particular with the original as far as lag and and multiple crashes or anything like that?

Basically is Surface 2 worth the extra?

Surface 2 has a faster processor (Tegra 3 vs. Tegra 4), a 1080p screen (vs. 720p at best), USB 3.0 instead of USB 2.0, a 2-position kickstand vs single position, and reportedly even better battery life than the already good battery life of the predecessor. And its got a really sexy white magnesium casing.

Those upgrades are worth the extra hundred bucks if you ask me. On the original RT my only big complaint besides Sleep/Wake bugs (kind of a windows 8 bug, not an RT bug, but its been patched out already to be far less common than it was a couple months ago) was that the Tegra 3 was just a slug at rendering web pages; there was a stark contrast to how fast you could navigate places like boards.ie on the RT vs. the Core-i5 powered pro on the same internet connection. Also, the RT is the bottom rung on the 3D mark standard (Galaxy Note 3 being the top)

The performance between the RT and the 2? Staggering.

That's the SoC now, the CPU/GPU that runs the entire kit. Those benches aren't just relevant to graphics intensity, but again, the rendering of things like webpages and even powerpoint slides if youre quite boring

Wow that's a ton of really useful info, thanks for your help.

The one thing thats pushing me towards the surface 2 is the faster speed. I really hate when pages are slow to load. I imagine this could really annoy me after using the surface for a while.
I think I'll have to save up a little more to get the surface 2.

    Thanks again for your help.
