Details of Secret TPP exposed

Today, 13 November 2013, WikiLeaks released the secret negotiated draft text for the entire TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) Intellectual Property Rights Chapter. The TPP is the largest-ever economic treaty, encompassing nations representing more than 40 per cent of the world’s GDP. The WikiLeaks release of the text comes ahead of the decisive TPP Chief Negotiators summit in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 19-24 November 2013. The chapter published by WikiLeaks is perhaps the most controversial chapter of the TPP due to its wide-ranging effects on medicines, publishers, internet services, civil liberties and biological patents. Significantly, the released text includes the negotiation positions and disagreements between all 12 prospective member states.

The TPP is the forerunner to the equally secret US-EU pact TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership), for which President Obama initiated US-EU negotiations in January 2013. Together, the TPP and TTIP will cover more than 60 per cent of global GDP.

It is a very 'heavy' document that is not at all easy to read, mostly due to the various positions of the parties (propose/oppose), but is nonetheless rather enlightening.

    Hi Mate,

Any idea on what Ireland's negotiated position is within the TTIP agreement?

Very worrying and as usual very few people could tell you what the TPP is or what its about. Is this a banner that Digital Rights will be picking up?

Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) combined would cover approx 60% of global GDP essentially creating the foundation for a world government, its akin to the EEC just larger scale - at least now they are being overt about it. With the dollar being printed to worthlessness with QE this is the last gasp of a dying empire as power shifts from west to east.

The disturbing part is that it includes all kinds of agreements where American corporations and market leaders get to decide what they want in it like a christmas shopping list. The MPRAA has already drafted its objectives and they are even more outgrageous than SOPA / PIPA and it may mean that ridiculous software patents granted in the US can now hold water in the EU. There are other disturbing things like a single certification/testing process for pharmaceuticals (I don't know about you but given the history of the FDA this is utter madness) and even more acts of lunacy like allowing the trade of GM foods and GM food fed animals like pigs/cattle to be imported into the EU from the US without any kind of labeling etc. Even things like the destruction of protection for geographically unique brands, like champagne or Roquefort etc.

Free trade is just a euphemism for Aglo-American hegemony if you think being ruled by an unelected set of officials from Brussels (European councils) is bad wait until this comes into effect and we are all essentially enslaved to corporations through 'trade agreements'.

And I hold no hope for this country at all, despite being ****ed over by the Troika and EU the citizenry of this country just sat there meekly and did nothing, we didn't even protest let alone put up a fight. The Irish have all been brain washed to believe the the EU is a great thing, it will be our savior and that while within it we have some kind of sovereignty - wake the **** up people! None of those are true - we are a vassal state of the EU with this latest government pledging generations of Irish citizens into indentured servitude of European masters. Make no mistake so long as ireland is within the EU we are NOT a sovereign nation, no citizen of Ireland is free and we are all slaves to the debt assumed post 2008.

We had the perfect opportunity to relive ourselves of this debt burden during "the crisis" if Kenny and his ilk had even a pair of brain cells to rub between them and any kind of backbone they would have refused to pay unsecured bond holders and told the EU they either wipe the baking debt or Ireland will announce it is leaving the Euro (not the EEC) and let them deal with the 'fall out'. Kenny and others have committed the ultimate treason but putting Europe's interests above that of the Irish citizenry and through their cowardice we are now yet again a slave nation!
