Purchasing new Macbook problems

Over a week ago I ordered a New MBP pro 13 inch with Retina display. On ordering off apple website it said 1-4 days. I've just gotten an email saying it won't be here til 19th December due to high demand. I need the laptop for college. So am I best just canceling the order and going to compu B. This is the spec i ordered....
    Configuration
    2.8GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7
    16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
    512GB Flash Storage
    Keyboard/User's Guide-GBR
    Country Kit-GBR

I would just like something that's going to last about 5 years that won't crash and can store movies and music that I will be downloading and maybe the odd pic I will edit in Photoshop. Would a MB Air be a better option? Or can someone tell me one I could maybe get in CompuB that would be good for my needs I don't understand the specs.

    Thanks in advance!

Maybe check that CompuB actually have that configuration in stock before you cancel ? It sounds like you specced some non standard items which CompuB probably won't stock.

Personally I prefer the MacBook Pro rather than the Air purely because of connectivity options and having access to the hard disk for upgrading etc.

Go with the MacBook Pro as it'll provide you with more connectivity, as pointed out above, versatility and is just worth it if you intend to use more memory/HD intensive programs in future.

16Gb ram and an i7 for the "odd photo in Photoshop" isn't worth it. Just get a standard model 8Gb, 256GB storage and if you need more space buy a USB3 portable drive and you'll be grand.

The Retinas aren't any more upgradable than the Airs, though. Whatever storage, RAM it comes with you are pretty much stuck with.

Thanks I ended up buying the high spec 13 in town today. Happy with it, can anyone recommend apps/programs I should be putting on it now is there anything I should do to settings? Also what's the keyboard shortcut for flicking between screens?

Three fingers left and right to flick between full screen apps...

The MBPs will last alright, my late 2008 model is still going strong.
