    Hi guys,

i have a late 2009 macbook pro and the trackpad is no longer that sensitive.

i now need to apply more force to the bottom left hand corner each time i click something..

strangely enough, there are times when it's sensitive, however this is mostly, when the laptop is cold, after having been sitting there for a couple of hours in the cold.

once the laptop has heats up again, it goes back to its insensitive ways....

any ideas what this might be?

has anyone else experienced this on a macbook pro 13' before?

    thanks

    ed

How's battery life? The battery may be swelling, pushing against the trackpad. Any signs of warping?

    thanks for your help mate.

i went to the apple store yesterday, despite not having an apt booked at the genius bar. i flagged down one of the lads on the shop floor and they got one of the genius bars to sort this issue out for me.

the guy said he simply removed the backplate, then the battery, this then reveals a screw which can adjust to change the sensitivity of the trackpad. he fiddled with it, and bingo the trackpad is as sensitive as day 1 again.

HOWEVER, the guy at the shop was unable to answer why/how the trackpad fell out of calibration, so maybe it is a swelled battery.

would you know the telltale signs of a swollen battery?

    thanks again for your help.

Bulging. Which can cause the keyboard and trackpad to become less responsive and warp the enclosure. Battery life would also be very poor. Given the age of the machine, I'd imagine the battery must be on its last legs.
