Painting surround for wheelie bins

    Hi,

I'm currently making an enclosure for my wheelie bins so the area is a bit easier on the eye. I'm making the surround from wood taken from pallets.

I wish to paint or treat this timber to ensure its waterproof/weatherproof.

    Any recommendations?
    Thanks

Gavin Duffy was on matt cooper this evening. They are selling exactly what you were looking for....have a warehouse of them as they never really sold too well.

    Hi,

If you want it to last as long as possible then use Creosote. Saturate the wood making sure to get the end grain. Creosote has a high VOC level, its a bit on the toxic side so be carefull using it, wear gloves and use ground sheets too.

Just give it a couple of coats of exterior emulsion, it will do the job and you can paint it any colour you want.

Won't make it water or weather proof, the wood will end up rotting and the paint will fall off
