    Hi All,

I have a 2 camera system connected to my home network. I have it setup that I can login and view remotely over the web but I cant seem to get the option to work to email me when it detects movement. it says "Sorry, unkown error happened" when I try test the settings!
I've configured mail programs before so I know the outgoing mail server is correct.

Does anyone know of an issue between eircom zyxel routers and this option. Storage Options suggested Port 25 could be blocked on the router but wouldnt that stop all outgoing mail traffic?

    Regards,
    Niall.

Can you tell us what setting you have entered on the machine?

I tried a number of combos from my own pop3 address with SMTP set to 25 to gmail with SMTP set to 465, 587 or 25.
    nothing has worked.

currently my settings are as follows:
    SSL: on
    SMTP Port: 465
    SMTP Server: mail.google.com
    Sender: "My gmail address"
    Password: "My gmail password"
    Recipient: "My gmail address"

    still not connecting

Have you tried using 2 different email address's ?
Maybe sender can't be the receiver.
Also try the sender with your ISPs SMTP server.

I'm afraid so. I think it maybe blocked on my router somehow. either that or the DVR has a problem

I'm presuming you don't have any internal firewalls or blocking on your network.

no firewalls running on the router either. I'm stumped I have to say

Try using mail1.eircom.net as the SMTP host.

Eircom don't block port 25. Do try using mail1.eircom.net.

Can you send email from a mail client using this?

Google's SMTP server requires authentication, so here's how to set it up:

SMTP server (i.e., outgoing mail): smtp.gmail.com

SMTP username: Your full Gmail or Google Apps email address (e.g. example@gmail.com or example@yourdomain.com)

SMTP password: Your Gmail or Google Apps email password

    SMTP port: 465

    SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes

Try upgrading firmware on your DVr might be a bug within it.
