Dating a person "of restricted growth"

I met a couple recently who fitted this criteria - she was of "normal" height and he was a "person of restricted growth."

It got me thinking about the dynamic of the situation and how the relationship worked for them.....but didn't pry of course.

So I was wondering - have you ever been in a romantic relationship with a person of restricted growth (dwarf/midgit in common language, I guess, though I don't know how PC those phrases are).

a mate of mine was. said he was tiny in all respects, and had the usual short man syndrome - ie: was short and angry.

I know of 2 dwarves. 1 of them works in Dublin zoo, sweeping out the budgie cages.

The other works for a painter & decorator, just doing the skirting boards.

Both of them are married to ordinary women, kids and all.

    "Little person".

Statistics show that six out of seven dwarfs aren't happy.

I seriously need some new jokes.

If Weeman and Vern Troyer have taught me anything, it's that little people make up for their stature by being utterly hilarious.

Panties drop faster for laughs than looks.

For the purposes of this conversation, how short would a girl have to be to qualify?

No point risking a perfectly good relationship over something so small.

Seen a midget get pick pocketed in town once.

How could anyone stoop so low.

That's the long and short of it really.

I'd rather a person of restricted physical growth than one of restricted emotional growth.

My best friend is 4'7 and has had no problem with guys.
I'm 5'1 and the only issue I've encountered is dating a 6'10 guy, he had to pick me up to kiss me. Other than that, it was fine :)

They are called elves. They can get angry.

Well I was thinking more of people who have a distinct medical condition that makes them much shorter than "normal". I'm guessing your friend and you are just "regular short".

    That's a 1'9" difference between yourself and your boyfriend....that's quite a bit.

My friend is 'medically' short, she's got dwarfism. Still never encountered any issues.

Ex boyfriend! But yeah, it was quite a difference. No real impact on anything though.

A dwarf went into the doctors one day and said that every time it rained, her vagina hurt.

The doctor said, well it's teaming from the heavens today, so jump up on the couch and I'll have a look. After a few mins of fumbling beneath her dress he said, ok, tell me if it's still hurting now?

She walked a few paces back and forward in his surgery and said, actually doctor, that's grand now, what did you do?

The doctor said, "cut two inches from the top of your wellies"

Swap midget/dwarf with nig*er in this thread and tell me if ye still think you're hilarious.

That would be awful. Why would you suggest we do that?

My query was a genuine one and I tried to use the most inoffensive language possible. A few AH quips about small people and suddenly we're all as bad as racists? OTT!

I rear ended a car this morning. The start of a really bad day.

The driver got out of the car and he was a dwarf. He looks at me and says "I am NOT happy!" So I said, "well which one are you then? "

That's when the fight started. ....

It's not over the top. Little people are no less vulnerable to discrimination than ethnic minorities. Such prejudice might not get as much attention as racism but it's just as bad.

I'm pointing out the hypocrisy. If a thread started asking about an immigrant (even in good faith) and people went two pages with racist jokes mods would be laying about with the ban hammer.

before we get into fighting about discrimination and minorities, I'll say I think it's daft to discriminate before meeting someone. As in all of these threads, yes I would date a person who was of restricted growth / another race / the same sex as myself / fat / bald / hairy / right-wing / left-wing . . .

    . . . but only if I fancied them.

(and I really fancied Peter Dinklage in The Station Agent. :) )

A woman went in to her boss and said that Nigel, another employee, said something sexually suggestive to her.
What did he say, said the boss.
He said that my hair smells nice.
I thought that would be a compliment said the boss.

Ah FFS It's Nigel, the dwarf said the woman

I wouldn't have thought 5 ft (ish) would qualify you for "dwarf" status, certainly not for a woman. My own GF is only 5'1" too and it's not an issue... then again I'm barely reaching 5'8" myself :pac:

Doesn't one with such a condition (trying to be PC here...) have disproportionate arms/legs, or is that something else?
