I've been a 3 mobile customer for a few years now, my current contract ends in 2 months. Their 3g has basically stopped working for the last few months and I'm finished being fobbed off with "Oh yea, there's a mast down in your area, it should be fine tomorrow", no improvement, ring again - same excuse - repeat ad nauseum.

So I'm going to change either to Vodafone or O2 - any general feedback on which is better? I'm leaning towards O2 but they both have €55 packages that are very similar.

Well, unless money is no object to you, steer well clear of Voda or O2. They are in a word -Uncompetitive.
Three have bought O2 Ireland, so any reception issues should be solved in time. How long is anybody's guess. The best deals available now are those provided by Tesco. Pay-monthly -300mins + 300Texts + 1gb data- €10.00 per month. Double that for €20 per month. Closing date for opting in is imminent. PAYG - for €20 a month you can have unlimited calls & texts + 5gb of data.

All details on the Tescomobile site. Plenty of discussion about those offers on Boards as well.
