    Hi Folks,

My neighbour has a hilti drill and he is going to help me put up a wall braket for my tv at the weekend. I'm using these bolts to attach the bracket to the wall Rawlplug Rawlbolt M8

The instructions says you need to drill at 14mm hole 70mm deep to fit the bolts in. He doesnt have a 14mm bit for his drill so I was going to buy one if they are not to expensive. Im just a bit confused about the fitting - will the bit linked below work in all hilti drills? are there cheaper/better alternatives?

    Cheers,
    Mick

Thats the bit you need for the hilti alright mick, unless your friend has a hilti chuck adaptor for regular 14mm masonry bit which will i think come in a bit cheaper than the sds bit.

just wondering - whats the difference between the bit at the first link versus this one? apart from length?

No difference just the length, still way overpriced in b&q u should be able to pick a good quality sds 4 about 10.00 euro

14mm bit  Way over the top there. How big is the TV ? LCD / Plasma / LED ? Eitherway, 14mm is not needed. You could go smaller without concern. 10mm would be the max IMO. Anyway, if you want to keep your cash, I've SDS bits ( all sizes ) you are welcome to borrow if you are near D15 / D11.

hilty make super bits, I have a decent supply of them, some presents from the reps last Christmas best freebee I ever got. However for a one off job I'd go for a cheap one, the Hilty ones last for ages and once its SDS you'll be fine, the larger 110Volt hilty bits use different connections, but not the one you are linking to

Good bits and good blades always.

Buy cheap **** in either and it may cost you an eye or a finger

Thanks guys, as it turns out i had gone overboard with my estimation.. we changed from the rawplug rawlbolts to heavy duty 100mm screws and they did the job.. i had bought the sds bit from b & q but they happilly took it back along with the rawlbolts that i had unused
