So out of the blue Revenue have decided that fixed weighting scales are not eligible for VAT refunds.

I said its bolted in and fixed.

He said sure thats ok but they can be portable.

I said 75% of the new sheds are bolted in and they are refunded.

    He said good point

So heal of the hunt i have to take photos and send in a letter to explain my point. That and pictures of the shed.

This photos thing is getting beyond a joke.

Had similar here with a new shed and they queried it too.

Two photos on the camera phone and job sorted - such a rigmorole! :(

Any chance you'd post it up here along with a vat invoice and we could all 'share' it:pac:

I had to get a letter my mains fencer sellers to say it was a mains and not battery powered .I asked them to check their websit as they had the invoice but they said it was my job to prove it.

client told me they came out to inspect a large shed he built for machinery, straw and grain. Inspector arrived and was "smelling of alcohol" inspector found a problem or 2 and client said, " are you sure, you seem worse for wear" revenue lad said your right, everything seems fine. Cheque will be cleared in coming days:D

We were refused a vat refund on a head scoop that's both bolted & welded to our crush, they said that it can be easily removed! Would'nt mind but it was dearer than the crush gate.

I hope their not thinking of making such sheds ineligible

For lads on the higher rate of tax there isn't much of a difference and it's only in year 7 & 8 of capital write down that you're ahead. That is working on the assumption that if they don't accept it for Vat refund it is considered a running expense rather than a capital expense.

no , I just pointed out the fact to the revenue employee that just because its bolted down doesn't mean it will be moved. I said its not exactly fair that no notification was issued either. I was 1 step off saying why does the head woman head on down to verify but I said I better not. cow **** might ruin the hunters

I'd a VAT reclaim a few years ago that had a few bits knocked off as ineligible. It had to have been someone with a good knowledge of farming looking at it as a townie wouldn't have spotted it.

The following year out of interest I'd similar stuff in. Passed with flying colours:).

(And I'm only talking about about the cost of a few pints here!)

That is strange it must be down to different people inspecting the forms. Sell weighing scales here and every one of them got the vat back that i am aware of but there is alot of them moving so maybe they are tightening up on them now..
