I have just finished reading this book, has anyone else? There is an epilogue. Is it just to tie up that particular loose end or has it deeper ramifications for the plot? Can anyone save me the bother and explain it to me?

By the way, the characters all seem half nuts to me. I wonder am I losing something in the translation?
