Electronic devices to be allowed during all phases of flight in Europe

    It looks like Electronic devices will be allowed to be used during all phases of flight in Europe from the end of the month:

    Correct that thread title - certain electronic devices.

    Laptops will still have to be stowed.

    Yes I see it is PED's Personal Electronic Devices like smartphones, tablets, handheld game consoles, ebook readers, etc. but not laptops.

    This will lead to interesting confusion.

    What is a Windows Surface Pro 2, tablet or laptop?

    Even a 11 Mac Book Air is about the same size and weight of a iPad.

    In the US, large laptops must be stowed, but not smaller ones!

    You somewhat answer your own question about confusion, it could only be down to size. Laptop and tablet are just general words and that link doesn't look very informative anyway. Probably something to do with what can be stored in seat pockets when not required.
