I'm glad that the auctioneering industry is keeping the silly peasants in check, and doing their bit to guide us out of this bleak recession. How dare anyone put in any old bid for a house! How does the uneducated man on the street know how much a property is really worth??

Let's look forward to the next election where we can all vote Fianna Fail again, and nurture the green shoots of recovery.

I'm a bit slow this morning, I don't get it?

'disappointed underbidders?' why didn't they up their bid if they didn't want to be dissapointed?

It would be better if it insinuated that people who were willing to pay more than the sale price were 'disappointed overbidders', that would be more of an 'in your face'.
..or an I missing the point completely?

I wonder what the appointed overbidders think of all this.

Has anyone ever noticed how auctioneers are all annoying, smug gits?

    No?

    Just me?

Like Boombastic, i also don't get it. Is it a statement? Its certainly not a question. Does it mean "Fook you lot who underbid" or has it been put there by the "Disappointed underbidders" ...........id really like to understand.

By the way, if it is the fook you option then this lot needs to be taken down a peg, A WHOLE PEG!

what they mean is that there were more than one person trying to buy and the people who lost out are disappointed

i.e nudge wink to other people who might be thinking of selling

Am I the only one who doesn't see what the issue is with this? Not really sure even what the point of this thread is. Maybe the OP could explain.

Estate Agents are sneering at poor people.

    Thats how I read it.

Estate agents/Auctioneers are all a bunch of unprofessional gits. In all my experiences they haven't got a clue.

ok, so its simply a case of cumbersome wording. meh.

I have got three leaflets from different estate agents in my door this week asking if I am interested in selling my apartment. They all say that there are cash buyers on hand. I haven't seen any such leaflets since 2007.

Same here, I get them in at least once a month. Then again, 2 houses went for sale on my road recently, and sale agreed was up within a week.

not really true is it...someone had more money than the others, now that person is out of the competition so the highest underbidder is the one with most money

Is it not a business tactic? Alert other home owners in the area that there are potential buyers in the area?

Is there an address so we can check the asking price versus what it actually sold for?

I passed a sold sign yesterday that was bigger than the fcuking house, I kid you not.

Is there a way to do that? We eat to buy a house next year and I'm clueless about it all. Just starting my research

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 818 ✭✭✭Triangla

Just check the physical address of the house.

Google it to find it on daft.ie to see the ad and what the asking price was.

Check the actual sale price on the property price register a few weeks later.

Liars too? Like if I put an offer on property, I put it in writing, reference no of house description, my price offer and any clauses. And if anybody wants proof of my offer, it's there in paper. Shouldn't i get same in return? Hardly believe them with their artificially elevated price offers from other potential buyers if they can't prove it to me.
Can't trust them, like a car sales man!

I don't understand why we're still talking about houses? They're constantly on about house prices in the news as if there's no other sign of a healthy economy other than high house prices.

Why can't we get over our obsession with house prices? There are plenty of alternative industries out there that aren't based on speculation and deceit.

Guys take it easy ... sure not all estate agents are above board to some are decent. In my recent purchase, the seller and the solicitors were not the greatest but the agent was straight forward and dare I say honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 565 ✭✭✭robclay26

I agree with you will get some decent honest ones, but they are rare.

What is the story with these "sales men" not replying? I bet if the owners of these properties that hired these useless auctioneers to sell their place would change auctioneer if they knew they where not doing their part in getting a sale by replying to a email or phone call.

In that situation everyones getting screwed by the solicitor so there would be some level of camaraderie.

I agree, this is very strange, I experienced this myself on several houses that were just sitting on the market. in some cases it took several, emails and calls to get any response.

good to hear somebody agrees and understands my point. Im looking to buy house and also lease a unit for work. there is alot of houses for sale for a long time, and units to rent lying empty for ages too, and they just dont do their "selling" job buy replying. Need a kick in the hole they do. I have been dealing with about 15-20 in the past 8/9 weeks.
3 replied with out me having to ask a second time. 20% -25 % reply rate:mad:
