    Yes you can do both. Suspend is better as you usually loose out if you cancel.

    Unless your insurance is alot I wouldnt bother.
    Check your policy document too, as some insurance companies expect you to tell them if you are driving abroad for more than 3 weeks, and they will then put up your premium......and yes it has happened to me.

    Yes and I'm telling him/her that unless they are going to save quite a bit, I personally wouldn't bother!

    I didn't bother as I wasn't going to save much money and I'd like the car to be insured while I'm away in case someone needed to drive it.

    If the cover is comprehensive or TPFT it would not make sense to cancel or suspend it. You don't know what might happen while you're away, the roof might fall on it, or a scumbag might like to see a big fire, or a car-less boy racer might need some grand prix practice. It could be a false economy.
