Restoring a 28 year old house

I've recently inherited my family home. The house was built 28 years ago, very poorly insulated, planned etc. We are looking to completely renovate the house, literally stripping it back to a shell and starting again.
We want to convert the garage that is attached to the house as the rooms adjoining the garage are freezing, extending quite a small house, making two extra rooms out of the garage

We will be knocking walls but not building new interior ones. We also want to reinsulate and re plaster the entire thing, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and living room.
The exterior roof is fine but needs to be reinsulated. We want to renovate every room, including rewiring, plumbing and updating the heating system. New kitchen and a new bathroom.

I'm just looking for advice on how to go about this, do I need to get a quantity surveyor/architect on the job?
And what kind of money are we looking at?
Any help greatly appreciated as I don't have a clue!

You MUST get some quality professionals onboard. Some combination of architect/architectural technician/engineer/energy expert. Some good guys knocking around here.

And then a good QS will be able to provide fantastic guidance if you get them involved from the outset.

Great professionals will help you to avoid making blunders with your investment.
