Quick serve tap washer

    Hi all,

I brought my old home brew keg down from the attic, for the first time in about 20 years. I am thinking of getting a brew going again.

Unfortunately the back washer for the quick serve tap on the plastic pressure keg has broken.

I have tried all the local plumbing, heating, & general hardware shops in my local area, but the required one inch rubber washer is not to be found - apparently its not a standard size for plumbing use.

Anyone know where I could get one ?

    Thanks.

well if you cant get what you want how about make what you need.

like take a large runner bung and modify it to your needs, ir you need to reduce the diameter or it attatch it to a drill and ise that to spin it as you use a Very sharp edge to VERY slowly remove excess rubber (just like a lade, i have dismantled a wood router in the past to make a home made lade before)

post pictures of what you need :-)

also maybe a few smaller washers could be glued together (food safe glue would need to be used)

Making a washer is an interesting idea..

In the end, I managed to get a simillar sized O ring from a heating system supplier that is holding out under the pressure. I have also ordered a new tap (with correct washer attached) from Homebrew West online.

Looking forward to getting back to brewing again.
