    Hi

I wanted to move my boiler outside. I had the plumber servicing it and he said it would be no problem, just a few blocks and it would be grand. But i dont have a clue about what exactly is required, is it just that simple, blocks, roof and a door and that would do the job?

    Has anyone done this before?

    thanks

how far outside do u intend putting it? Just outside, or a few metres away. If you're placing it a few meters away then you're going to need special insulated piping that has minimal heat loss so you won't be losing heat into the ground. Thats quite expensive, but worth it. You'll also need an electrician to run the power supply out to the new location.

Sorry i should have included that information. So i am planning on moving just to the other side of the exterior wall. I see 2 of the walls of the boiler house as being the boundry wall and also the external wall of house. So looking at 1 wall so to speak.

aw grand, nothing major so. is there any real benefit to just moving that far and putting it in a house again? if its causing you bother where it is then fair enough, but i wouldn't bother if i was you. All you'd need to move would be the burner, power cable, oil feed, and water pipes.

Rather than go to the expense of blocks and mortar (small enough cost, maybe) why not replace the boiler with a new external cabin pack condensing unit; these are neat, self contained and efficient? Something like this:http://www.grantengineering.ie/product-area/euroflame-outdoor-modules/

No building work required and no ugly boiler house either.
