    Hi All,
My band has recently upgraded to "ready to play gigs".
Does anyone have any recommendations or contacts or suggestions about how we go about getting some start-off gigs (support, all ages etc)?

Hi Cormac. What are the aims you have for gigging? Are you looking to get paid for them, or just build up experience / a fanbase for now? If it's for the second, you should probably look for any live shows you can do. Talent shows, open mike nights, small pub gigs; all of these give experience and will get your gigging confidence up.

If you want to get paid from doing this, you'll have a better chance of achieving this if you have some experience behind you and can prove to event organisers that you'll keep their audience entertained. As that's what they'll hire you for after all.

I've written a guide on getting gigs here: http://www.musicindustryhowto.com/gigging-101-how-to-get-gigs-the-ultimate-guide/ so you might want to check that out instead of me writing it all out again.

One final thing though, have you got any CDs of your pressed up? If so bring some along to shows to sell. That way you can make money even if you're not getting paid directly from the show. You can also collect performance royalties if you're signed up to a royalty collection company. :)

Hey guys, thanks for the advice, we've managed to book and play a few more gigs since I posted last time so we've got some momentum now, hopefully it'll continue :)
