Windows 8.1 SUS163U Drivers

    Hey All,

Made the schoolboy error of jumping onboard the Windows 8.1 upgrade wagon before a) leaving it long enough for initial niggles to iron out and b) giving ample time for manufacturers to update their drivers.

In my defense, I didn't expect the level of incompatibility of drivers on 8. 1 that there is now, on what seems to be on the surface an incremental update. This is like when XP first came out.

Anyways, my problem is that I have a generic usb WLAN stick (bought in Lidl or Aldi) which I've used with years to connect to my router, with no issues, even with Win 8, but alas now, its not working correctly on my PC running 8.1. Its been running all along with the SIS163u chipset drivers

Device Manager reckons its installed and is running correctly (I downloaded and manually installed latest drivers), but after it shows no wireless networks in the charm, and gives no options to search etc.

My guess is that the drivers are not up to scratch, but I can't seem to find any mention of updated drivers on d'internet.

Anyone out there having similar issues, and/or am I going down the wrong path thinking its driver issues?
