I was helping a friend do the mock theory test yesterday.
Here are two of the random questions I cut & pasted:

    QUESTION 32 of 40:
When should you drive while travelling on a dual-carriageway?

    QUESTION 20 of 40:
A vehicle that has was carrying a hazardous cargo has been involved in an accident. You should.....

Does anyone ever proof-read any of this stuff?

The webpage doesn't appear to work properly using Firefox. We had to use Internet Explorer.

Room for improvement here I think....

Here are a couple more examples:

    QUESTION 16 of 40:
The headlights of an oncoming vehicle has rendered in difficult to see. You should.....

    QUESTION 23 of 40:
What is the effect may a broken or damaged exhaust have on the environment?

Me thinks someone needs to sit a mock Leaving Cert with emphasis on the English language.

That looks like google translate to me. :D
It is official Irish state procedure to just copy and paste everything from other countries, it's just easier that way and allows for longer lunch breaks.
But they seem to skimp on proper translators these days, well, there's a recession ...

Are these the questions that actually come up on the real thing?

What has that got to do with driving a car anyway? Yes it'll be noisier and belch more smoke but there are guys who pay good money for that!

    Bloody tree-huggers! :p

Thats the ISM one not the official one. That said I did the Motorbike one today only booked it two days ago! New years resolution. Remember getting annoyed when one the questions answers options didnt start with a capital letter and one had a spelling error..... And I thought the exact above "Does anyone even reread these?"

You should get the official. You are taking a gamble with that one. That said some of the questions on the real thing are daft as well. Have a full B licence and I was getting the stopping distance questions wrong and what is the minimum distance between cars at 100km/h in meters. There should be a "Shure ya know yerself" option. Who comes up with these and what is it supposed to judge? Also one of the new ones involved what should the driver be aware of when approaching the brow of a hill and one of the answer options was "A Speed Check Van may be in operation" I had to laugh because its the answer Id say about normal driving.

Theory test is really a waste of time and money especially with mandatory lessons now.

One of the questions on the real theory test is what are pedestrians legally required to do when walking at night? Walk in single file. What does that have to do with driving a car!
