Bryan Dobson and Donal Byrne present their broadcast archive of Irishmen who served in with the British armed forces during WWII, with moving accounts from seven survivors.

This promises to be a very good programme. Really looking forward to it.

    Great respect for these men.

Excellent programme - men with great stories to tell given the time and opportunity to do so. This will be a very worthwhile addition to the RTE archives.

I liked the minimalist presentation - I would have expected a voiceover or introduction from Bryan Dobson but the programme makers decided (quite rightly) that the interviews spoke for themselves. The simplicity worked very well.

Well done to Bryan Dobson, Donal Byrne and all the interviewees.

Unfortunately, nothing so capable of dramatic telling happened to the regular Irish troops who remained in the Free State except poor conditions, low rations, sub-standard quarters and the genuine fear of having to ward off invasions by both sides in that conflict [Robert Fisk on the Emergency].

Is that a quote from Fisk? Whats the source?
