Scart socket issue

Hi, I'm having a problem with my scart socket where I have to push the lead in hard for it to work. I've tried a different cable and this happens on both scart slots. Is there anyway around this?

Could I use a coax connection from the sky box to the tv instead of scart?

Yes you could but with reduction of picture quality & mono sound instead of stereo.

If still under contract with sky, request a replacement STB. They may ask you to sign up for another 12 months again but if you have no plans to cancel anytime soon then you have nothing to lose.

you can also get lockable scarts, hard to plug in and can be a tough nut to take back out, have a look here but as khumbu says get a new box, should be no need for a new contract just mention CANCEL. Socket could be loose, what make is the sky box.

Getting a new Sky box won't do much good if the socket problem is on the tv.

True, but then TV may have spare hdmi socket that could be used to connect to the hdmi socket on the new sky box.

The tv mightn't have any HDMI sockets.

Query here is about seemingly dodgy scart sockets, location unspecified. Do some folks just have some kind of haggling-with-Sky fixation?

No mention of haggling with sky in this thread until your post!

Replies may have provided a solution to OP without the info on which device scart socket is loose or if there is hdmi on TV being known.
