Recording 1 channel while watching another

Only just noticed that I can no longer record 1 channel while watching another.
Doing a bit of Goggling it seems this is because of the recent rescan.

Could someone confirm that a Samsung UE32ES5500K doesn't have dual abilities.

If that TV doesn't is there a list of TV's that do?

Only real PVRs have dual tuners. They have built in HDD and series link too.

Anything else is a "recording feature", added at the 50c cost of USB.

Right, so basically what your saying the ability to record one channel and watch another is gone unless I get a real PVR like sky + is it?

RTÉ1, RTÉjr and RTÉ1+1 (channels 1, 7 and 8) have moved to a new frequency, so if you want to watch or record one of these channels you will be unable to watch/record one of the channels on the other frequency.

The channels above are still on the old frequency for a little while longer but have moved to channels 11, 17 and 18 but without channel names.

There is only 1 Saorview+ PVR available at the moment, the Walker WP6500TTR

Thanks, I see now that I can still record rte2 and watch tv3 or visa versa alright. Will that remain the case for another while or are they intending on changing the frequencies of those channels in future too?
Why was it necessary to change the frequencies of those 3 anyway?

RTÉ2 and TV3 are on the same frequency so no problem there but the 3 duplicate channels on 11, 17 and 18 will disappear in due course, just temporary until people with reception problems get sorted. We expected them to go this week.

Yes it was necessary to make these changes as RTÉ1 is going HD within the next month or so and new channels will be luanching in due course such as the recently announced UTV Ireland. There wasn't enough capacity on 1 frequency to do this.

Would it not have been possible to keep 1,2 & 3 at least on the same frequency as those are the ones people would have required the recording/watching capabilities to be kept?

That's would be a question for the Saorview people.

The View21 will record from 1 mux while watching the other........... it is not Saorview approved.
Watching RTE 1+1 and recording 3e.
I wouldn't rush out and get one as there are some weird issues with it ...it still will not keep RTE1 HD in the channel list.
    For your information .........
    Regards

    No.

Fair enough; looks like that's the end of recording Top Gear/The big bang so with the missus watching Eastenders/Fair city.
