Tesco had them on €1 per can (slab of 24), twice over last 18 months, haven't seen them for a while though.

Certainly haven't seen them at this price of €1.04 per can in a good while now.

Superquinn tend to advertise fantastic bargains and hence they sell out quick- however they never seem to have a lot of stock in for these brilliant bargains. I am basing my theory over the last couple of months....
hubbie often goes in to buy the bargains eg fairy non bio, kitten soft toilet roll, many other things on offer, however within a few hours they are gone. Tesco a lot better, has a lot more quantity of stock on offer

It says the Jameson offer ended yesterday. Can anyone confirm that?

Yeah, it's in the small print under the Bottle of Jameson in the photo above

"Offer valid from 6th to 12th November Only"

They could have made that clearer - all the other offers run until November 19th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,618 ✭✭✭amber2

Offer over on the Jameson, they are also doing 6 bottles of selected wine for €50 in case anyone is interested.

Jameson 70cl currently reduced in both Dunnes and Tesco to €23, which isn't as good, but it's something.

Also, Dunnes have Bushmills reduced to €18 from €26. Never tried it, so don't know if it'd be a valid alternative to Jammy.

They have had the midleton rare whiskey on offer and I can't get it in my local superquinn. I asked them to get me a bottle and they couldn't.

    Bulmers.

Its made by a small firm compared to Budweiser and Guinness which are mass produced by massive companies. Plus Bulmers uses Irish apples, I wonder how much of Budweiser ingredients come from Ireland? Im sure its from actually imported from the Netherlands.

I'm not disagreeing with you on any of that, but I just think it's way overpriced.

€6 in some pubs for a pint bottle?

Cider has always been more expensive than beer. I think it has something to do with the way the excise duty was calculated in the past. I'm of an age to remember when the budget came out there was always a separate budget increase for cider - the rate was calculated per pint or something like that.

The suggestion was also that it was dearer to stop the great and the good ( as it was considered the poor mans drink) getting too drunk and becoming too rowdy :D:D

Excise duty is cheaper for Cider than Beer if you're working off a 5% beer.

    Beer
Exceeding 0.5% volume but not exceeding 1.2% volume
    0.00
Exceeding 1.2% volume but not exceeding 2.8% volume
11.27 per hectolitre per cent of alcohol in the beer
    Exceeding 2.8% volume
22.55 per hectolitre per cent of alcohol in the beer
    Other Fermented Beverages:
    (1) Cider and Perry
Still and sparkling, not exceeding 2.8% volume
    47.23 per hectolitre
Still and sparkling, exceeding 2.8% volume but not exceeding 6% volume
    94.46 per hectolitre
Still and sparkling, exceeding 6.0% volume but not exceeding 8.5% volume
    218.44 per hectolitre
    Still, exceeding 8.5% volume
    309.84 per hectolitre
    Sparkling, exceeding 8.5% volume
    619.70 per hectolitre

Makes you wonder why alcohol free drinks are pretty much the same price as their alcoholic equivalent (supermarkets or pubs)

I was visiting a buddy of mine outside of Biarritz a few weeks ago and paid €1.80 for a longneck of Bulmers in a pub. How does this work even with tax here ? I could understand if it was the other way around and we had to import it into ireland, but its supposed to be made in Clonmel !

It doesn't use ALL Irish apples, there wouldn't be enough crop in this country to supply Bulmers/Magners

Anyone ordered the drinks for delivery? It is showing the full amount for me but the products say discount will show on receipt on day of delivery. Should I just go ahead and pay full amount but it wil only debit the discounted amount?

    Thanks

The online shopping price is only an estimate of what you will be charged - you will get the 3 for 2 discount when they put it through the checkout in the shop and thats what is charged to your credit card.

If you order 6 crates of beer you will have an estimated shopping basket of over 80 euro which entitles you to then apply the 20 euro discount code. This will give you 6 crates for €30 plus delivery which is pretty good.

So when they scan it instore and it comes up 50e they take a further 20e off it instore because of discount? You sure? Anyone done this?

AFAIK you must spend €80 including any discounts otherwise the €20 voucher will not be applied in store, I think the voucher has to be cleared in the store at the till/checkout stage.

done it on Thursday - you only need the total of the groceries to come to 80 on the estimate in order to get the 20 euro discount

The offer has been on since the 5th, ofcourse stock will be gone, that doesn't make them scammers. Happens are supermarkets.

    Best of Luck!!

If they have high profile offers like this one they really should have reasonable stock levels for the duration of the offeror it could be seen as a scam just like the argos half price offers where they only have one or two of the item left in a few of stores.

In fairness their was a decent amount of stock, and delivers have gone to stores during the offer, im sure their was beer options to choose from in stock, but the bulmers is possibly the cheapest it has been in any store in the country for a long period so was going to be snapped up. Even at the €24 slab offers in the past, the bulmers comes in 18 packs of 500ml where everything else is 24 and was still snapped up, so I don't see this as a surprise that it would be gone.

Savage offer I'm hoping it arrives this evening I took the 6-8 delivery slot. I'm expecting a non delivery or a phonecall saying there out of stock as that's happened before.

2 x 24 coors and 2 x 24 guiness and used the 20 quid off over 80 quid spent so should have 4 crates for 80 quid! 96 cans for 80 including delivery is the best ever value I've had for a top brand alchohol! Works out around 83cent a can:D

Great deal, thanks to original poster, just got a delivery of 40 bottles 24 cans, a bottle of baileys n a bottle of wine for €67

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,355 ✭✭✭cruhoortwunk

Used €20 off voucher to get 8 bottles of wine online for estimated* €65.06. It got delivered and they took another 5% off for the wine and it somehow worked out at €54.44. Great value, that's less than €7 a bottle.
Also used a €20 voucher to get 10 x goose Island and a bottle of redbreast 12 for estimated* €65.90. Also got a few quid off this as they gave me the Ale for €2.79 each instead of €2.99 each and one for free, so total of €61.11.

A whole lot of drink for €115!
