New Free Luas Apple App for Vision Impaired
    11 November 2013

A Free Luas Apple App is now available for users with vision challenges. The Luas VI App can be downloaded for Free from iTunes here. This is the first RTPI application for a tram service worldwide specifically developed for vision impaired users and the first one for any transport service in Ireland.

The Luas VI App provides users with vision challenges with
    - Luas Live Information for all trams including Travel Alerts
    - Favourites to save their regular stops
    - Operating Hours to check the times of first and last Luas trams
    - Feedback option to give Luas feedback on the App.

An important part of this Luas VI App is the Feedback facility that allows users to give Luas developers feedback about the App as they use it. We are particularly keen to learn from vision impaired users about how app could be improved. An updated VI App is already in development and your feedback plus input from the National Council of the Blind in Ireland will be used to build a Luas VI App Version 2.

Read the Luas VI App user guide here to find out how it works.

Download the Luas VI App for Free from iTunes by clicking here.

Do we really need a 'special' app for people with vision impairments? Why not just make the standard app accessible via the voiceover facilities available on both IOS and Android?

Is the new app GPS sensitive, i.e. 'Find stations near me' or similar?
